Cased
Iron Cross 1st Class - Marked 20 - $ 775 Maker - 20 C.F. Zimmermann Etched- NJG 5 Aug 1944 An outstanding Cased Iron Cross 1st Class. It is maker marked 20 for C.F. Zimmermann. It also is etched on the reverse "NJG 5 Aug 1944". The unit indicated is Nachtjagdgeschwader 5 (Nightfighter Wing 5). At the time indicated, most of the elements of the unit had just relocated from service in Greece to East Prussia. As a side note, at this time they were in the process of switching aircraft types. They had been flying the ME-110. They were changing over to the JU-88G. W = 44.3 mm # 2340 |

Cased Marked Iron Cross 1st Class
- $ 445 Maker - 58 M. Kutsch Nice and interesting 58 marked cased Iron Cross - slightly vaulted. The cross itself is in good shape with some wear but everything intact. It is marked 58 which makes it an interesting cross. 58 is the makers mark for M. Kutsch of Attendorn. This company is not a currently documented maker of Iron Crosses. There are several possibilities that can be speculated. It is my opinion that both the cross and case are original to the period. The case has had a bit of a hard life but still displays well and has lots of character. It is fully intact although the latch does not close completely. A very interesting though undocumented piece. Iron Cross 1st Class -
Slightly Vaulted - $ 265 Interesting Slightly Vaulted EK1. Good shape and the detail is sharp. There is pocking on the core paint but still looks great. The pin may be a period replacement but cannot tell for sure. If so an exceptionally nice job. The use patina is wonderful. W = 43.8 mm # 2232 |
WWI Iron Cross 1st & 2nd Class
Listed below are 1914 crosses from WWI. I have included these in the WWII section because many German soldiers, especially officers, served in both WWI and WWII. Thus 1914 Iron Crosses were worn by German soldiers during WWII in great numbers.

WWI Iron Cross 1st Class - Fully Vaulted w/Award Document
- $ 675 Very nice cased vaulted WWI Cross with it's original award document. It is fully vaulted. The cross has some wear but is in great shape. A good bit of the core paint has worn enough to develop a beautiful brownish patina. The pin is stamped 800 for silver content. There is no separation on the cross. The document indicated the cross was awarded June 4th 1918. It is hand written with the official regimental stamp for the 15th Landwehr Regiment. The diamond hatch pattern does have some outer wear as can be seen but is fully intact with the hinge and clip fully functional. The hinge fabric is also 100% with no separation or tears. Nice nice piece with great use character & no damage. W = 42.0 mm # 1824 |

WWI Iron Cross 1st Class - Vaulted - $ 195 Another beautiful and very interesting WWI Cross. It is vaulted and slightly smaller than the average WWI EK1. The core is completely intact although a good amount of the core coating is worn off. Some rim plating has come off revealing the base metal giving a beautiful effect. Hinge and clip in good working order. W = 42.1 mm # 48 |
